DIOR Spring 2016 RTW Ad-Campaign

Raf Simons’ final ready-to-wear collection for Dior - Patrick Demarchelier shot a cast of young models in a series of group portraits that Dior described as “an homage to femininity, glamor and modernity.” Models Sofia Mechetner, Roos Abels, Staz Lindes, Maartje Verhoef, Grace Hartzel and Binx Walton had their windblown hair done by Duffy and low-key makeup applied by Peter Philips. An accompanying digital film is to debut on Dior’s Web sites and social media from Jan. 20.

This season, Dior-wearing women are romantic, gentle and natural beauties, their hair blown by a light breeze. Their dresses are equally airy or delicately pleated, but the contrasts are strong and the lines this side of futurist. The collection swings between avant-garde and timeless femininity, extending to the accessories. Set off against the delicacy of a grosgrain ribbon, necklaces are embellished with a metal "8" pendant, in homage to the En 8 line from that first Dior show of 12 February 1947. The architectural lines of the Diorever and Diorama bags showcase an innovative level of design, which is also to be found in the lenses of the DiorSplit glasses and the point of the slingback pumps. This series of images shot by Patrick Demarchelier, author of two tomes on the creations of the House, pairs looks in color with portraits in black and white, the celebrated French photographer's favored medium.

The French house’s spring 2016 campaign, slated to break on January 19 in Harper’s Bazaar in the U.S. and In Style in Korea, followed by Harper’s Bazaar Japan, Vogue France and Elle China the next day. Outdoor treatments are to debut in Hong Kong on January 23.

Simons announced his unexpected departure from the fashion house back in October. Rumors began this week that Alexander McQueen's creative director, Sarah Burton, is in talks with Dior to fill the open, coveted position.

Last month, Dior also revealed that its existing in-house team will design the next two collections, which are the Spring/Summer 2016 Haute Couture collection which will hit the runway January 25 and the Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear range which is set to be presented in March.
